It’s official – Manchester is rocking again. As Oasis reforms and prepares to smash out their hits in concerts in the city, next July, you can expect all the hotels in Manchester to be booked solid. The city has been undergoing a metamorphosis over recent years and is now very much on the map once again.
Here are four fabulous reasons to visit:
It’s full of hot new hotels
From Treehouse Manchester – a sister site to the hip branch in London - to Malmaison Deansgate, a second Malmaison for the city, and the about-to-open Mollie’s Manchester, it’s full of hip new hotels.
It’s getting its own Soho House
As proof of its new style status, Manchester is getting the first Soho House in the north of England, in the old Granada Studios building, sharing the space with hotel, Mollie’s. Opening in 2025, the rooftop pool and bar will become the place to be seen.
It’s also full of fine-dining
Another nod to the city’s elevated status, came in February when the Michelin Guide’s annual awards ceremony was held at The Midland Hotel – the first time outside of London. The city is packed with great restaurants, including SKOF, a new restaurant from local chef Tom Barnes, which was given five-stars by The Telegraph, fine-dining restaurant Tender, by three-time Michelin chef, Niall Keating, huge bar and restaurant Maya and Louis – a place to be, but not be seen, as it bans photographs.
It has new entertainment areas
Manchester now boasts the UK’s biggest new music venue, Co-op Live, which opened in May and in November it hosts MTV’s EMAs there. Aviva Studios, home of Factory International is also now fully open, as is creative centre Diecast.
Another exciting development, is Therme Manchester, which will be the UK’s first city-based wellbeing resort with a waterpark, thermal baths and spa, urban farm and botanical gardens. How good is that!
