If this heat is inspiring you to take a trip to the seaside, you’re probably planning some fish and chips. There’s nothing better than crunchy chips, nicely-cooked and covered in salt and vinegar, as you sit by the sea. And there’s nothing more disappointing if they turn out to be soggy. So where are the best fish and chips to be found along the coast? The National Fish and Chip Awards 2025 shortlisted 40 of the best take-aways in the UK and here’s my pick of the seaside winners:

Locker’s Fish & Chips, Marske by the Sea
In between Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Redcar Beach, you’ll find Marske by the Sea and Locker’s famous chunky chips.
Kent
Newington Fish Bar Ramsgate
Kent has a lot of fabulous fish and chip shops, but the best in the county goes to Newington Fish Bar in Ramsgate.
