The best Easter Egg hunts for 2024
A country walk with chocolate at the end, what could be sweeter?
Egg hunting at RHS Gardens
A visit to one of the five Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Gardens around England is always enjoyable, but over Easter there’s a lot more than flowers as they host giant egg trails. If you find all the eggs, you’ll get a choccy treat at the end. There are also family activities, like storytelling sessions and arts and crafts workshops. Visit rhs.org.uk
The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt at Hampton Court Palace
Regular The British Travel List readers will know, Hampton Court Palace, outside of London, is a favourite destination of mine and Easter is even better, thanks to its Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt. Wander around Henry VIII’s famous lavish gardens, looking for gold bunny statues. And yes, you get a chocolate bunny to take home/eat immediately. Visit hrp.org.uk.
Canoeing for eggs in the New Forest
How good does this sound? For something completely different this year, how about an Easter paddle along the Beaulieu River, in Hampshire, followed by an Easter egg hunt along the riverside. Visit newforestactivities.co.uk
Easter at the National Trust
We always do a trail at National Trust properties near us. They’re a great way of getting the kids to run around, without noticing. There are hundreds of trails at properties around England and Wales and every trail is different, from nature crafts, to egg and spoon races. What they all have in common, however, is chocolate at the end. Visit nationaltrust.org.uk There are also 35 trails across National Trust for Scotland properties. Visit nts.org.uk
Easter Escapades at English Heritage Sites
Similarly, if you are visiting an English Heritage site over Easter, then add in one of their Easter Escapades taking place all over the country. They have traditional storytellers and entertainers, games and events and egg hunts, called, Easter Adventure Quests. For more information, visit English-heritage.org.uk
