The spa cabins and natural pool at Bracken Hide and the rooftop bar at Gleneagles Townhouse. Pics: Bracken Hide/Gleneagles

The Bracken Hide Hotel, Isle of Skye

It’s wilderness, but not as you know it. The Bracken Hide Hotel on the Isle of Skye has just opened as a luxury wilderness resort, with divine cabins, a Whisky Hide Bar, Estonian saunas, wild-swimming pool and restaurant. Yes please! Visit brackenhide.co.uk.

Gleneagles Townhouse, Edinburgh

Gleneagles is, of course, one of the world’s most famous hotels and now you can get a taste of it in the city, in Gleneagles Townhouse in Edinburgh. Centrally-located on St Andrew Square, in the former Bank of Scotland building, it’s the city’s most luxurious hotel and private members-club. Visit Gleneagles.com.

The quintessential Scottish getaway. Pic: Schloss Roxburghe/Hyatt

Schloss Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course, Scottish Borders

Not new, but new owners – the historic estate and golf course which was formerly owned by the Duke of Roxburghe, has been overhauled by Hyatt, as its first Destination by Hyatt hotel in the UK. Visit schlosshotel-roxburghe.com.

The Hoxton's trademark interiors seen at Shepherd's Bush and 100 Princes St. Pics: The Hoxton/Red Carnations Hotels

The Hoxton, Edinburgh

The British Travel List’s family is a fan of The Hoxton, the hip hotel group which began in Shoreditch in the 2000s. Now they are launching a hotel in Edinburgh, in Haymarket. It is scheduled to open later this year and is bound to become a city hotspot. Visit thehoxton.com.

100 Princes Street, Edinburgh

Another hotel launch in Edinburgh I can’t wait for, is 100 Princes Street. The Red Carnations Hotels group has transformed the former Royal OverSeas League clubhouse into an enchanting boutique property inspired by Scottish explorers. It will open in October. Visit 100princes-street.com.

The Treehouses at Leckie. Pics: Leckie Treehouses

The Treehouses at Leckie

I have always fancied staying in a treehouse and I’d love to visit the new The Treehouses at Leckie. These four just-opened luxury, yet sustainable, hideaways overlook the Gargunnock Hills, Stirlingshire. Built into the canopies of oaks and sycamores, they have amazing views. Visit leckietreehouses.co.uk.

And watch out for… W Hotel, Edinburgh

Finally, another Edinburgh hotel on its way, is W Hotel in St James Quarter. This 12-storey hotel in its dramatic circular building by Jestico and Whiles and Allan Murray architects, will become a city landmark. Visit stjamesquarter.com.
